Why does my hamster take his bedding out of his house2007-11-24 22:19:25

My hamster has decided to move his bedding out of his house and take it all downstairs in his cage, he then goes in his house and lets his testicles hang out! is this a nesting/mating instinct?

Answers:

He's probably just a bit too warm to want the bedding right now.

I have owned several hamsters over the years, and they can be very picky little things. I have had a couple that seemed to move their beds around every other day. As long as he has the bedding available, should he want it, just leave him to do his own thing - he sounds fine.

he does it because its warm inthe den and doesnt need bedding to keep him warm

no you've just got a proper blokey hamster. do you find his little ears prick up at the mention of footie or the baywatch theme tune? do you find larger cans hid under his sawdust?

i'd get him some etiquette lessons the little devil that he is.

He is too warm and cramped in his house.

Get a bigger house/bed area for him and reduce the bedding material - use strips of kitchen roll instead of fluffy stuff.

My hamster hangs his bits out of the door when he wants to cool down!

He's too warm, so he doesn't want the bedding and he's hanging his "parts" out to cool down. Just like you'd kick the bedclothes off if you were hot in bed, tho' whether you hang anything out is up to you!

my hamster did that i thomk it is because he wants a warmer and cosier place my went behind the hamster wheel !
