Why does my hamsters breath stink2007-11-24 22:19:25

For some reason it appears to be stinky, like when I Kiss her near the face it is soooo stinky. I think that her teeth might be too long but I'm not sure of it. And if anybody knows what it is, Please tell me what it is and how to prevent it. Plus my hamster isn't chewing her chew stick? How do i get her

to chew on her chew stick? I think the stinky breath but I don't know. Please help!

Stinky breath is because of.well.stinky food! its quite funnyLOL! my rats breath stinks because i give them a stinky bread thing...But its because of food mixed in wit chewing blocks!

You should try something else for your hamster to chew on like a chewing block, you can find those at any pet store. You should also give the hamster a tiny piece of rope to chew on. Also, make sure you have hamster bedding and not newspaper...the wood chips help mouth issues such as bad teeth and bad breath.

It could be because of her diet. You may want to change the food you are feeding her [If you are not feeding her a food specially for hamsters, than you should.] & also giving her a carrot to chew on often helps take care of smelly breath.

You cannot do anything about the stick, it means she is comfortable with her teeth & she will deffinately chew it when her teeth become too uncomfortable. If you want to help her out though, try flavoring the stick with something.

if i were you i would check her teeth they may actually be too long if they are either take her to a vet emediatly or try clipping them with cutical clippers. if you cant help her right away make sure he gets some of the essential nutrients.
