Why does my rat have a huge lump on her rear2007-11-24 22:19:26

I have a female rat about 4.5 years old that has a lump the size of a small chicken egg on her rear. i looked closely at it, and i saw a crusty(dry) dark spot in the center of it. i looked at her a couple of days ago and i didn't see anything unusual. she doesn't move a lot, and the squeaks a lot. please i am very curious as to what it is. my family is thinking it might be cancer, but nobody is sure. i just need some insight as to what this is.

a lot of rats get tumors when they r that old and 4.5 yrs is a long time for a rat u can take it to a vet if u want or just keep a eye on it and keep it comfy as best as u can.

Rats only live 3-4 years.

Cause of death for rats is either predators or cancer.

That lump is cancer. And as fast growing as it is, I'm thinking it's deadly.

are you SURE it's a FEMALE rat?? If it is, that could be an OVARIAN cyst. Very painful.
