Mites can also cause them to not want to be held or petted. If you suspect mites, you can treat her with ivermectin. See this for info on treatment: http://www.guinealynx.info/ivermectin.ht...

You might want to consider taking her to the vet for a checkup just to make sure there's nothing wrong. Piggies don't suddenly become antisocial for no reason.

If she runs into her house I would leave her alone. She will go there to feel safe. You can try treats to get her to come out and just leve her in the cage.

Maybe something scared her last time and she feels threatened leaving her cage .

Guinea pigs are afraid of heights or something like that. So that is why they avoid being held. What you should have done from the very start was to interract with your guinea pig constantly to get her used to you.

Guinea pigs can sure bite, but you just need to learn how to get the guinea pig.

Guinea pigs are sociable animals and like to interract with their pet parents.

Hey! thats how my pig behaves.it clutches onto its cage for dear life.The only 2 reasons i can think of is a) maybe you irritate him/her so much that he/she is to afraid to come out or b)Maybe it wants you to sit inside his/her cage and give it company.(after all guineapigs dont have an IQ level as good yours,so perhaps it feels you're small enough to fit inside the cage with it.)

my guinea runs from me too sometimes. i have found that i teach him to stay still i can get him out easily. once out of the cage, it seems the hard part is over. he chirps and purrs when i hold him and sort of giggles and hops when i let him play on his own outside of the cage.

to train him to stay still for me i show him his favorite food (green leaf lettuce or a baby carrot) and reach in to pet him. once he sits still long enough for me to pet him a few times, i give him the food. i do this every time i give him food, even if i'm not going to hold him at the moment.
