Why doesnt my hamster chew on wood blocks2007-11-24 22:19:54

I have two hamsters and niether one of them chew on wood blocks, am I doing something wrong?

What other things could I give them?

No, your doing everything right, like my hamster yours are just not intersted. Instead i hang a ceral chew bar in his cage so he still has something hard to chew on. You can also buy fruit flavourd wood to put in the cage. But all hamsters are different. Mine has never even used his exercise wheel in the whole year i have had him.

If your hamsters are chewing on the bars of the cage instead you must stop this as there is evidance this can cause brain damage. Make sure they both come out for daily exercise .

I have two dwarf hamsters and they wont chew on them either. But they love to chew on the metal bars of the cage. Try giving them some root vegetables, something for them to chew on

some hamsters just arent chewers...id recomend chew sticks with some food on them...they seem to go for that...my expereince with hamsters is that they arent always chewers but always have something thier incase they decide to be one.one thing is do try the food covered chew stick becasue hamsters need to chew to keep their teeth healthy

i think it's their taste. Give them veges or carrot to bite on. Let us know wat happens

Some hamsters don't like them at some pet stores they have a block that is made for chewing on its not made of wood, mine used to love it

Well, there is the chance that they are chewing on them secretly, or that they just don't like the taste! I had the same problem, and i learned that rubbing a bit of lettuce on makes them more eager to chew!

My hamster does the same thing ! I bought him wood chews, and he doesn't seem interested by them...
