Why has my hamster been sleeping at night and the morning2007-11-24 22:19:55

I only have had it for 3 days.And I checked for wet tail every morninng.The first night it ran the wheel like crazy.Last night it stayed in the same position all night(but it was awake).Tonight it is still sleeping .

dont touch him for the next few days. he is just getting used to his enviorment. but they usually sleep in the day. if they sleep at night, and are awake in he day, it is proibably ill.

Hes probably still adapting to his new environment. Give him a week to get comfortable and he will probably become more active.

They're Nocturnal So They Sleep In The Day And Play In Night Dont Get Me Wrong If You Wake Them Up IN The Day To Play They'll Be More Then Willing To Play.

Hamsters play all night and sleep all day, try getting him more toys to play with, like tubes to run through, a wheel that you can put him in and he can roll around on the floor.

it is probably still adjusting, but it may also need some more reasons to be awake. make sure it has plenty of food it can stash and places to hide it, as well as a few things to chew and climb on in addition to the wheel you have. if it ran a lot the other night, it may just be doing it when you're not around.

Don't worry I'm sure its just because its not use to the new cage or if its a baby it might sleep a bit more then normal just try to play with it at night before you go to bed, Good luck

He probably just needs to adjust or is awake a couple of hours and asleep some more and awake again.
