Why is my 4 month old guinea pig (boy) trying to hump my 7 week old guinea pig(boy)- will he calm do
As far as two males living together - I have two boys from two completely different litters, one being 5 years and the other 4 years and they get along great. The younger one actually holds the dominance between the two. It is possible, however, for pigs to not get along after awhile, including brothers from the same litter. Should this happen, just separate them - put a wall in the cage (like a grate of some sort so they can still see each other). Often times it's just a matter of having their own space and not wanting to share.
Don't worry about the little one not being large enough - he'll be fine. Besides, GPs grow fast, and soon enough his cage mate won't be able to push him around so easily!
These sites have already been posted, but, again, they're absolutely fabulous for any info or questions you might have regarding guinea pigs.
We had this problem, except the pig was humping baby rabbits. Male rodents (and rabbits as well) tend to be a little strange this way, but after a day (two at the most) he should stop humping and realize that the other pig isn't female- *if* the other pig is really a male! Sniffing and a little chasing is natural, but you may have an aggression problem- males often don't get along well together- and separation might be necessary.
Hope this helps! Good luck.
Hi
Its a male domenance thing. your best bet is to leave them alone and put a "hidy hole" in hutch so little one can get away, i have just done the same with 2 girls as the older one chased the younger one all the time, both now really happy
