Why is my guinea pig hyper active, has ears up, and tries to bite me2007-11-24 22:19:58

he's a silkie i think, and he is living by himself (only piggie) on a big cage with lots of treats. what's wrong with him?

Answers:

Memphisgal is right. Hyper piggys are good and there are only 3 reasons as to why a guinea pig may bite:

Mites

Fear and

Pain

Guinea pigs are herd animals by nature thus why they are extremely social, domestic guinea pigs do far better in pairs (or herds of 2 or more), often more active, social and happy. Please consider getting a cage mate.

well sincerely thats strange, it occurs maybe 3-10, i think you disgust him
my piggie was hyper till I got him a buddy... And mine trys tp still bite me. mine is trying to file down his teeth though.
hyper pigs are great! IT's wonderful to watch a piggie playing.

BUT pigs only bite for one of 3 reasons:

mites

fear

pain
