Why is my hamster so clumsy Please help Im getting worried2007-11-24 22:19:27

I know I asked this earlier, but no ones answering, and im getting worried. He litterally falls when hes walking on flat surfaces, and hes really slow. Idk if hes sick!

Answers:

Is he very, very young or very, very old? He could be having problems learning to walk or problems with athritis. Is he walking in small circles and falling over? He could have a brain injury. Are all of his legs working? The back legs can start to atrophy if he's not getting enough excercise.

If he is really, really old, he could be getting slower because his life may be almost over. I had a dwarf that was almost three years old (double the life expectancy!) and the last four or five days before he passed, he seemed to be moving in slow motion and stopped using his wheel. If he is not very, very young or very, very old, I would think about contacting a vet because whatever the cause is, it is not normal for a healthy adult hamster to be falling while he walks.

Hamsters are just like that sometimes, that's part of what makes them so cute. But if you're still worried, a vet would be able to tell

you if that could possibly be a problem, cuz i'm no hamster expert.

did he fall one time? do you have a little sibling who plays with your stuff? sometimes that is the problem

I would definatly see a vet. Is the room at a cooled temperature? Is there sufficiant water, and food? Come hamsters loose feelings in the backs of their legs because their cage is too small, and they don't get enough excersize.
