Why male hamster will bite the female hamster
I have a pair of pearl winter white hamsters. When i try to put in the male hamster into the female cage, the male hamster will chase the female hamster and try to attack her.
May i know why does this happen ??
Answers:Mating ritual really. He wants to mate with her at all odds and is showing her kinda... If he doesn't injure her I would let it slide. If he is injuring her then separate them for awhile. Start to introduce them on neutral ground here and there and work up till they like each other. Then put them together and things should improve. Although I would bet it is just a mating ritual. So be forewarned you might get babies soon.
they are not use to eachother but if u put tehre cadges close enought to see eacotehr after a week of so start letting them smell eachother and when they get used to eachouther put them in the same cage.
hamsters are somewhat territorial and also display dominance to females before mating. he might want to mate with her and he is waiting for her to give in or he just simply doesn't like her in his territory.
he's probably not trying to attack her, they're most likely getting ready to try and breed since they are male and female.
or they're just too old and too used to being alone to be introduced to a new hamster.
syrian hamsters tend to be solitary animals, anyway.
