Why my guinea dont want to wear the leash2007-11-24 22:19:34

i try to but the leash on my guinea but i cant even but it on he keep strugle but i dont know why and now i can even take him for a walk out side the fresh air how can i but it on.

Please don't put your pigger on a leash! It's really not good for them, and can actually hurt them. Even if the packaging says it's for a guinea pig ~ don't use it! Take it back and get a refund.

Your guinea pig will probably love getting outside now and then! You need to set up an area in your yard where he'll have room to roam around , and so he'll be safe and not be able to escape.

Also, make sure the area you have him in has not been treated with chemicals (fertilizers, pesticides, weed killers, etc.) or is an area where another animals goes to the bathroom. It should just be a nice, clean grassy area, and dandelions are O.K. for them to eat, too! : o )

If you know what a c & c cage is then you can use those types of cubes to set up an outdoor area for him. If you don't know about them look on http://www.guineapigcages.com ~

What kind of leash are you trying to use? If it is one made for guinea pigs then you should not have a problem. It should have a figure 8 harness and not a collar. My guinea pig would just sit there while I put it on her. Make sure you are extra gentle and slow when you put it on him. It could be that your guinea pig is just scared. The more you use it, the more he will become used to it.

your guinea pig would prefer to be running freely without some rope cutting into him. but if this is not possible buy a rabbit run and just let him run around it and graze. this gives him exercise all day. dont blame him. i wouldnt want to wear one.
