I cant bear the thought of animals suffering in pain and scared, whilst their owners are tapping away on the computer on yahoo. The only thing they should be tapping is the phone to make an appointment to the vet!!

I agree completely and don't blame you for keeping the caps lock on (it's perfectly acceptable for an angry rant)! Why bother getting a pet if you are not going to take care of it and love and respect it like every living thing deserves? The purpose of owning a pet is not to teach your child responsibility (make them mow the lawn or take out the trash if that's your goal), to entertain yourself, keep yourself from being bored--or whatever else! These are all pleasant byproducts of the real purpose which is to care for, love, and respect something that is alive just like you. These three things involve, having knowledge about your pet and how to properly care for it, taking quick and appropriate action when your pet is injured or sick , and not doing anything to it that you wouldn't do to another human (this includes neglect)! If you can't follow these simple guidelines, you probably shouldn't own a pet.

It's a hamster. I worked at a vet and we always said the same thing.Why spend that kind of money on a hamster. Just go get a new one.

That's what stop bleed or cornstarch is for. my vet would have told me i wasted a trip to see her if i brought my rodent in with a cut that i could have stopped the bleeding myself. my rat caught his toenail on the towel after a bath and she told me to do just what i have written above.
