Even if he is not drinking it, change the water every few days so that it is still palatable. Also, check for feces. It shoud be small and relatively infrequent (compared to hamsters or rats).

I wouldn't worry unless you see that he is losing weight. Then get him to a vet.

I have a rabbit, and I know that sometimes she really worries me because she hasn't been drinking a lot. It could be that he has a sore on his lip or something like that. What I would do is put the water in a small container so that way he doesn't have strain to get his water he can just drink it out of the container on the ground. If that doesn't work give him apples or fruit that have lots of water in it, so that way he still stays hydrated. I hope this helped you.

Gerbils only drink a teaspoon of water a day so maybe the first day the water bottle was not working so you should maybe get new water bottle.

The 4 ounce Bell water bottles are great for gerbils.
