Why wont my pet rat2007-11-24 22:19:33

eat out of his bowl he us2 tipit over then eat but now he wont eat @ all out of it.

now i have 2 clean a spot of his cage so i can put food so he will eat

y dose he do this

My rats both take their food out of their dishes - my female has a crock and she empties it to hide her food. The male in his cage tried to eat his (plastic) dish after he also emptied and hid his food. I changed out their toys for new ones because I thought they were bored. They like the new scenery but still continue to take the food out of the dishes!

What kind of bowl does he have? Get him a crock type dish he can't tip over. A few more toys may help too.

There's no definite answer to this, he probably does it just because. Try giving him a new type of bowl that he can't tip or move the bowl to a new place in the cage. Maybe the bowl is too high and he feels like he can't get the food out.

they are not like cats and dogs . A rat is an animal that really

does not think as when you talk to a cat or dogs they are

different . how? they are a bit more wild they are like

hamster they just run around and mate and eat that is how

rats are. you can not tell a rat to stop doing certain things
