Will Mouse Be Okay2007-11-24 22:20:05

My guinea pig Mouse seems to be sneezing occasionally, and he often closes one eye more than the other. I called the PetsMart that I got him from, and they just offered a refund or to switch him out with a different one!! I can't take him to the vet till my sister's or mom's next pay check, will he be okay till then?? I'm really worried I love him PLZ help!! Thanks!

Aww! Poor Mouse!!

My Guina Pig was in a similar or worse condition and I called the vet and by doing what he told me I saved Benji(My Guina Pig). [He just died a few months ago of old age tho :( ]

Well, I still have the list of things he told me to do. Hopefully it works for you too. Poor Mouse!!

Sick Guina Pig:

-Give your pig water through a mouth syringe - it is important to keep him hydrate (I had not idea what on earth a "syringe" was so I just used a little dropper.

-Sometimes it helps to hand feed them. It didnt work for Benji but my Vet sid it and its worth a try right? Well, when they are sick they need to nutrient and they may not be well enough to eat on their own.

-Keep Mouse warm! If he does have a cold, then being warm will help him feel better but if he resist then leave a blanket nearby so that he can go to it if he wants to.

Thats the best I can say. its what I did until I could take Benji to the vet. Hopefully its enough for Mouse!!

In the meantime change your bedding. I use an organic paper bedding (it doesn't have the dust).

i had mice and one started sneezing. before you knew it, they all were .if you have other guinea pig mice mixed with him, be careful that it doesn't spread.If he looses weight, he is not looking like he may survive, but see how he goes,he may over come it..good luck.

Constant sneezing could be a sign of a bacterial infection, especially if it is mixed with other sypmtoms. I know that you said that he sneezed out mucus, but is it running now? If so, more signs of a bac. infection.
