ok so my mom said i could get a pet and i want a mouse what do u think of them

I kept and raised mice for years. They are sweet pets if handled from a young age. They rarely bite. Mice are social animals- 2 would be perfect. Get 2 young females- about 5-6 weeks old. This way they won't come pregnant- mice can get pregnant as young as 9 weeks. I always recommend handling a new small pet in a safe enclosed space like the bathtub (plug the drain, please!) until it gets used to you. Sit in the tub with it. That way it can't fall from a great height or run away. Mice need a good quality bird seed or rodent diet that you can get at any pet store. They can also enjoy breads and high-quality cereals as treats. Give them wooden blocks to chew on to keep the teeth trimmed. Use a water bottle instead of a bowl and make sure you clean it thoroughly with a brush at least 1x week to keep bacteria from growing in it. Use a pelleted recylcled paper cage litter and keep it clean- mice tend to drop odorless poop everywhere, but generally pee in the same places and urine odor builds up quickly.

Otherwise, mice have no body odor that you can detect. Keep them in either a wire cage with a solid bottom- no mesh bottom- or a large fishtank with a screen cover. Make sure the doors close securely or the lid has clips- mice are great escape artists. A stainless wheel for exercise and some ladders or tunnels will provide them with fun. With proper care, I've had mice live 3 years. They are great little pets!

I think they're very cute, but I really like my pet rats, who look so much like mice that someone asked me if a pet mouse we were watching at an animal shelter would grow up to be a rat. "Um, no", I replied. She thought for a minute. "Didn't your pet start out as a mouse?" was her next question.
