Will anything happen to my hamster2007-11-24 22:20:03

i was letting my hamster run around and she found and ate a little bit of the chocolate cookie on oreos i stopped her before she even ate a 1/4 of it will any thing happen to her or should i just not worry

She may feel a bit sick after stuffing herself but she'll get over it.

Try not to let it happen again though. Regular human chocolate is poisonous to many animals - including rodents. A massive quantity of it or regular doses can be bad. But from what you've described she'll just feel fat and sleepy.

Keep an eye on her just in case and make sure she has plenty of fresh water.

If they're anything like a dog or a cat, chocolate could be like poison. The caffeine in the chocolate raises the heart rate and could cause a heart attack. If she's okay within a few hours then I wouldn't worry. Good luck.

I say she will be OK. But I won't recommend giving sweets to a hamster.Especially sticky kinds.The reason is there is a good chance she will save some in her pouches and the sugar will stick inside her pouches and cause a yeast infection.Which will eventually kill her if sugar is not washed out and removed before this happens.

um yea she will be okay but dont give her any sweets its not really good 4 them give them some vegies

Nothing will happen, that much chocolate would not hurt her, just like a cat or dog, too much chocolate could be fatal, but not that much. Her waste may be a little messy, but nothing will happen.

just make sure she gets no more chocolate, it's a killer for most animals.
