Hi! I have personally tried mothballs to control mice and it did NOT work! All it did was stink up the house (and I put the mothballs UNDER the house where the mice were living and my house stunk for over a month!) Other than trying baits and traps, I heard about putting snake skins under the house to scare the mice away (the rodents won't hand around a place where a predator may lurk and it worked! If you know anyone that has a pet snake you can get a shed skin from them (or maybe a pet store would have one that you could have.) Hope that helps!

I have heard that, but if there is still food present, the mice will still come in despite the mothballs. Plus the smell is terrible and bad for you. The best way is block all holes and openings where they might be getting in using steel wool and setting traps. Look for places like the opening where a gas line comes in behind the stove or where water lines enter the house.

Wear gloves while stuffing steel wool in holes and openings. My husband cut himself badly doing this once when we rented an old farmhouse that had lots of places for mice to get in. He needed stitches. Not pretty. But the steel wool was effective in keeping the mice out.

at times people say it does, but personally the rat we had under our house picked up eat moth ball and placed it on our front porch.. it actually isnt the moth ball that scars them away its the scent. try live traps if you dont want to kill them and try not to use poison if you do, they run run and die somewhere and you get a bad smell...this didnt help, it was just an experience
