Will my Cats try to kill pet rats nonestop if i get the rats.Should i close the door to the room that the rats r in or just not even get them.or will the cats even notice thanks in advanced
Answers:i have 2 cats and 4 rats and i have had no problem with my cats trying to get my rats. they have to learn they are not there for play, if you need to get a water bottle and every time your cats get up to see the rats squirt them and they will under stand after a few times. It is not mean and wont hurt them.
your cats will try to get them, just keeped them locked up in the cage, or keep the door to that room closed and it should be fine. even if the cats do notice, they can't get to the rats if the door's closed.
Depends on your cats. I had 2 cats and they never bothered my rat, I think the cats thought the rat was creepy. They stayed away from it when it was out of the cage.
I have cats and rats. Most of my cats couldn't care less about the rats. Some cats are interested, but my rats live in a Martin's cage, which is EXTREMELY safe, so I don't worry about it. The rats get all huffy and try to grab the cat's fur, but no one is really upset. When the rats are out playing, there is ALWAYS a closed door between them and the cats. I would never, ever let them 'play' together -- but there's no harm in having both cats and rats!
While it depends on the cat (mine could care less, rat no rat put the friskies down and move along), it would be highly unlikely your cat would continuously go after them. They have better stuff to do, sleep.breath...tear up the couch. The key is when you have the rats out, make sure the rats are elsewhere. I suspect the worse thing that will happen in the cat sleeps on top of the cage.
keep the rats in a room away from the cats and don't let the cats get to them. if you really want the rats get them just don't let the cats get to them. sorry about repeating but again don't let the cats get to the rats!
i have a cat that constantly brings home dead wild rats and he doesn't bother with my pet rats. it will depend on your cats themselves.
