Will my hamster be confused with a new cage

Will my hamster be confused with a new cage2007-11-24 22:20:07

I have had my dwarf hamster, Buttons, for almost a year now. He has been kept in a tiny ickle cage, with no tubes and is generally boring. So I want to get him a new big cage with tubes and toys etc. But as he has been kept in his cage so long, will he be ok with moving to a different cage? Should I introduce him a few hours a day or something like that, maybe?

Answers:

dont worry about it, it might take him a while to get used to the tubes and how to use them, but he will love the new cage, and the chance to learn how to do something new. He will be perfectly happy in a new larger funner cage to play in, and you should put him in there as soon as possible. He will live longer since he will no longer be so bored

no it will be exciting for him
No he will love it. He will be scouting around as soon as you put him in.

He will be fine, don't worry! It just takes him a bit of time to get used to. Make sure you put his favorite foods and treats along with him as well so he feels comforted and safe in his new home. You can put him in there right away, once its all set up. It's just like us moving :P Good job on providing your hamster with a more roomy cage!
i think he will be happier i dont think you have to make her get use to its new cage if she seems to be getting confused then introduce her to it slowly
it will be just fine
I think they will just wonder around and look cute. :D
No just let him go in there and explore. He won't get confused. After a while he will be happier.
he will LOVE it.
a new cage is fun and exciting 4 him/her . Bigger is better . they love to run/ play on or in things.
No. Keep the same type of bedding in the same cage. So the smell is the same. Take his/her old nest and put it in the new cage so that he/she has some fimilairity of the place. Don't expect him to go up the tubes right away. It will take him/her to get used to the cage.
I think your hamster will love it. It will have so much space to run about. It will be so happy! Don't worry! Go ahead, your hamster will adapt to the new cage.
I had a hamster once and she kept chewing her cage so me and my sister switched cages. She loved it... he will get used to the cage, dont worry he will be exited
just get the cage set up and let him explore it, leave him alone for a night to explore and enjoy. he should get used to it.

trust me, my hamster moved cages 4 times!
