Will my hamster die from leg injury
My dwarf hamster's cage was pushed off the dresser (by one of the cats) and he remained inside. The other hamster in there broke his back and died instantly while this one only seems to have hurt his back leg. He's not using it and dragging it around. He seems okay other than the fact that he seems to sleep more (he is no longer very active at night like he used to be). Will he live through this? I've only had him a few weeks and I really don't want to pay the 70 dollars the vets are asking for (since the hamster only cost me 3).
Answers:Take him to a pet charity who will fix him for a small sum, don't let him suffer. He's likely in pain.
The hamster will not die.. Probably it will heal itself. One of my hamster injured his leg and it healed itself, so your hamster will be fine.
Oh come on, 70 dollars is not a lot to spend on an animal! Who cares about the money anyway? I spend more on my CAR than it's worth for heaven's sake.
Yes, your hamster will probably die from an untreated broken leg. Even large animals/humans can die from the complications, a small animal can die from the shock - it's the shock, and the pain, that's causing him to sleep more by the way.
Apart from anything else, how can you stand having a pet around that's in pain and dragging a leg around? How can you just let it suffer, for the sake of a LOUSY 70 DOLLARS?!
