I have a starter home for my teddy bear hamster Waffles. He is now full grown and is in need of a larger space. I do not have much money at the time so I was wondering if a second wire

hamster cage could be added on to the existing one. He is an avid climber of his cage walls and I want something secure that he can't escape from since I have Pomeranian dogs that have tried to play with him the last time he escaped. His current home looks similar to this:

I was thinking of either adding to the top or adding to the side. I don't have much space so I would like to give him more room without taking up too much space width-wise. Also, would placing him in a much larger guinea pig cage be better as well? Any suggestions would be great.

No I have never seen an extension option for this type of cage before. Though if you are looking for a cheaper way to make more space, I would recommend a bin cage. My hamster has one and he loves it! Its cheap, easy, and and completly escape proof and well chew-proof. Here are some pictures for inspiration:

you can get one that has 3 stories..or perhaps a wider one..they shouldnt cost that much but dont get a plastic cage they're hard for hamsters to breathe in and it will smell horrible to your hamster too i hope i helped thanks for the time
