-laughs- As cute as ratties are, I would highly suggest NOT making a wild rat a pet. There are plenty of diseases it could be carrying as well as parasites. If it's an adult, it will probably be on the aggressive side if you try to touch it.
The other thing is: how easy was it to catch? If it's on the sluggish side, then there's Definately something wrong with it.
it might be pregnant and you;ll soon have more rats in your box. LOL
NO! Wild rats are nothing like pet rats, pet rats have been breed to be domesticated, wild rats altho they might look cute can carry many diseases. Rats out in the bush etc are usually healthy but those who have been exposed to human waste in the city are often sadly infected with loads of diseases and parasites. I took in a young teen rat once when my cat caught it, i couldnt bare to kill it so i let it out the back of the garden. If you cant bare to kill the rat which is really the right thing to do, take it to an area with lots of plants and so forth so that it can feed itself. And yes as someone has said if it was that easy to catch (the one i caught ran around the room four times before i could get it) it may be sick...you could get gloves and take it to the vet to get it humanely euthanised thats another option.
absolutely not! it is a wild animal, do you know if it is carring a disease or has rabies??? Get rid of it!! If you want a pet talk to your parents about getting one from the pet store.

I don't think it would. It could have diseases and I don't think it is going to be very tame like the domestic rats at stores or even up for adoption. I would go to a pet store or look on petfinder for rats up for adoption and get one that way. I had a pet rat and she was wonderful, they make great pets but I don't know if a wild one would. Good luck. Plus if you get a rat from the store or humane society they are healthy and tamer and are only about 5 dollars.

No, if you want a pet rat, get a fancy rat. They do not carry the diseases wild rats do.
