Would A Dwarf Hamster Manage These Tubes
I'm buying this cage, and a male and female pair of dwarf hamsters. Would the hamsters be able to climb through the tubing, or would I need a mouse ladder?
Heres the cage: http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores...
ps: I know there is hamsters in the cage, but I'm not sure whether they are dwarf hamsters or not.
Answers:It should be okay... take a look at it in person and make sure the tube has good enough ridges for your little hamster to climb on... if the inside of the tubes are not grooved enough, then a dwarf might not be able to make it.
Keep in mind, too, that it will take a little while for the dwarf to get used to climbing. You might get frustrated in the beginning, and think that the tubes really are too big for them, but soon the hamster will learn and be crawling through it no problem.
For the record, I do agree that you might want to look more at wired cages... it will give them just one more thing to play on.
thats perfect for a dwarf because the bigger hamsters can get too big for the tubes and remember these types of plastic cages should be ventaleted
It looks perfect for the little guys.
Because none of the tubes go straight up they should easily be able to climb the ridges.
I like it.
Just be warned that it will be hard to clean since you will need to take all those tubes apart every 4-5 days when you clean your cage and the connectors are very annoying to take apart.
They should be fine in it. They are jumpers and climbers so this cage looks well suited for them. Be careful though these little guys can be escape artists and these kind of cages make it a little easier for them to escape from. Make sure that all the tubing is secure and there aren't any little wholes for them to get out off. Good luck
I think that cage is find for dwarf hamsters. However, these types of plastic cages don't have the best air circulation for hamsters. It's not serious, but it's still best to have those wire ones. Boring, I know...
