Would a pet mouse be able to get out of a 10 gallon tank without a cover2007-11-24 22:20:14

Also, if you have cats. They will be able to get into an un-covered tank and get your mouse. I'd put the cover on, just to be safe.

better safe than sorry...check www.craigslist.com to find a cheap tank that might have a lid, or list it as a wanted item. Just make sure to clean it with hot water and mild soap before you use it. :)

Do not underestimate the escape ability of the common mouse. They are frantic, persistent, acrobatic contortionists who could put Harry Houdini and Mind Freak to shame with their natural ability. So many people's first words when they see a mouse are, " How in the heck did you get in here?"

The only thing they do better than getting into and out of tight spots is making baby mice.

You should get a cover for the tank, make sure it's well-ventilated because otherwise it's easier for you little one to get a respiritory disease.

Mice, like anyone else, are individuals & some can jump that high easilly-- I've seen this firsthand. Mice are amazing little escape artists.

Yes! They are very, very, very, very, very good climbers! Put a lid on but make sure it fits properly and has airholes!

Yes. They aren't pro jumpers, but they will utelize anything in the tank to get out. If you give them a food dish or a toy, they will climb on that and then jump. Young mice can jump higher and some can clear a 10 gallon tank.

You would be suprised how high they jump! My mouse once did a spring jump and it was so fast and high that he hit his head on the roof. He also climbs on his water bottle.
