No. The girl who used to live next to me tried that. The squirrel bit her and she had to have rabbies shots. Squirrels tend to bite when they feel treatened. And since squirrels can carry rabbies, you have to have shots after you're bitten, which apparently are quite painful and make you sick for several days.

well, when it comes to wild squirrels, then yes, you stand a chance of being bit, and getting rabbies of the squirrel is a carrier.

otherwise, then i would say that it is completely up to you. i myself have had a pet squirrel before, only because it was a young squirrel that for whatever reason, the mother had abandoned. i kept it for a while, and it was just like having a pet rat, to which i currently have, only the tails are different.

the squirrel, whom i named Eddie was very playful, and quite loving. he got to the point to where i could play games with him, i could feed him snacks while he sat on my shoulder, or on my lap while watching tv, and i even taught him tricks. i had him for about 4 years until he died. i don't think that they have a very long lifespan.
