Would you pet a squirrel Is it ever safe to do so
In Thailand, they sell baby squirrels for the pet trade but they are constantly jittery and have their teeth clipped to ensure they don't bite the shoppers who handle them.
So I'd advise you don't touch them.
I have done so, but don't ever try it near the head - you'll get bitten. When in doubt, simply enjoy watching them, and bring along a few peanuts to say "thanks." :-)
A wild one?
I've seen squirrels that are 'tame' enough to take food offered to them but I've also seen stories in the news of squirrels that have actually attacked people (probably because they expect food from everybody, lol).
If you mean a wild one i would say no...my friend tried and she has the scars from it
I would, I have and it depends...
I have pet wild and tame squirrels, they were used to use giving them food, they would come up and sit in our laps as we fed them seeds, and they let us pet them...no one ever got bit...you just have to be slow and if they fidget...then leave them alone...
You can find tame squirrels at many pet shops, that are fine with being handled.
Is it safe...well, you always stand the chance of being bit.if the squirrels are calm or tame then I would say its safe...other than that...throw them food and just watch them...
Hope this helps...GOOD LUCK!!
I wouldn't. RABIES. BITING. its a wild animal.
