What would you prefer: Clydesdale or Appaloosa2007-11-25 16:57:32

A horse-junky friend of mine wants to know (she doesn't have Yahoo!)

Answers:

I LOVE Clydesdales. Despite knowing that a horse can clearly carry my with no problem, I just feel safest when I have a very big, sturdy horse. Clydesdales are slower but I like their personalities more. There was an old Clydesdale down the road until it died last summer that had an additude like a friendly young filly until her last moments. The older Appaloosas I have known seem to become bitter after about 15 years.

Two different caliber of horse, mind you
Appaloosa for sure.
They're really quite different! Appaloosa probably because they're more unusual plus Clydesdales are a bit too heavy for me.
Clydesdale's are great for heavy work like carriage driving or therapeutic horsemanship.

Appaloosas are good for lighter riding such as western or English or Endurance etc

i would say Appaloosa because Clydesdale are really heavy so i would say Appaloosa
Appaloosa
Clydesdale - they are so nice and gentle
The clydesdale is a large draft breed used for work. They are NOT a PLEASURE horse & would be EXTREMELY expensive to keep as such. The food, the shoeing & board. Just trying to find a place that could comfortably stall a breed this big. The special tack you would need (saddle, bridle, etc. etc. etc.)
