Why is my horse so hard to work with
Why is my horse so hard to work with2007-11-25 17:00:47
My horse is very crazy. She pins her ears back and tries to bite people. She has a baby and she is trying to do the same thing. What can I do to fix it? Any tips or anything would be very helpful.
Answers:Hey, i used to have a mare just like that. i know how it feels! embarrasing! it sounds cruel, but its really not. what you have to do, is next time she reaches out to nip, smack her hard between the ears, and crack an egg over her head. she'll think she's bleeding, and never try doing that again! the egg comes out with a little shampoo.
try to tell it to settle down or at least give it a place to run around you know what i am saying
mares are more moody
get a professional trainer to work with her
look for herbal food suppliments to help her moods
perhaps its because she has a foal?
go for an animal specialist
Has she always been pinning her ears back or just since the foal? She may be in protection mode. If she's always behaved that way, she may not have been broken properly - or you adopted a wild horse. Talk to the vet - you should be able to have her trained properly and given the correct feed to calm her down.
You left out a lot of info. Such as, horses age, how old is her foal, was she gentle broke, or hard broke. Is she green broke. Has she been broke at all? Has she been sick? horses in some ways are a lot like people in the way they react. What kind of food do you feed her? Environment? Do you play loud music around her? Horses hate certain kinds of music believe it or not. There are a lot of factors that cause a horse to be difficult to be trained.
