Answers:It's got fleas or tics
Take it to a vet
old age
sounds like your rabbit has mites, but i suggest taking him to the vets for a good checkup and some treatment for him
Does he only loose his fur once a year? Does it come off in clumps with darker and shorter fur underneath?
My rabbit was part angora and malted in this way.
I think it would be best to see your rabbit breeder or your vet to double check what it is. If it is just malting, he will be able to give you advice on how to groom him - rabbits can die from furballs.
It may have ear mites. Pregnant rabbits pull out their hair to make a nest for baby bunnies. Not that your pet is expecting.
It has AIDS
DO take him to the vet.
The hair loss could be from many things, from just normal shedding to mites/fleas to a very serious skin condition. Because you say that he is shaking his ears, I would say that he has either fleas or mites. Fleas and mites tend to stay around the head/neck/ear area the most, and I've noticed by bunny shaking his head/ears a lot when he had fleas. He could be loosing hair because he has been itching A LOT, but you haven't mentioned itching, so, it COULD just be shedding, and it might just be a coincidince.
