i have 2 adult rabbits outside in a cage off the ground they have a box to get in but how cold can they actually stand it should i put some type of heating source in there or is the tarp over the cage an blankets an hay an straw in their box enough?

Answers:

Rabbits are highly adaptable to any environment. They will actually grow more fur to protect them from colder weather. Never put a heat source in their cage. This could cause serious burns. The tarp over their cage is a good idea, just make sure that your rabbits are not constantly in the dark. Rabbits need a natural light source in order to insure proper intestinal function.

When i had rabbits i put hay in their box and they were fine outside all winter. I think that's about all they need.

actually rabits can stand cold weather but DONT use heaters just give them hay and a blanket and place to get rid of wind espacially if they are adults

Make sure you have a heater for the water dish to keep the water from freezing (there are some for dog bowls), and have plenty of food to help build their fat.

yea, I agree w/Laura(that's my name 2..lol) anyways yes that would be fine..rabbits fur & fat are there insulation. As long as they are well fed( which I'm sure are), & u put a tarp over there cage(with somethin' to hold it down) , they shouldn't be cold at all:-) Good luck to ya:D Hope I helped

in a cage.. i would take them inside and make sure they are ok because it is getting cold.. outside and i wouldn't take a chance

Just make sure the cages are sheltered enough from the rain. You will have to give them fresh water a lot on the winter because it will freeze. Just give them plenty of warm bedding too,
